Female Head Plans and Photographs - £3.00
This head is one of the projects for my 2013 US tour. The series of photographs have no commentary and speak for themselves. This is the way I carve a head - it is all about measurement, symmetry and process. All measurements are made while the head is still square, as far as possible, and all measurements of the front view are made equally from the centre line. The bandsawing must be accurate, precisely on the line - It works. The original head is made from 6 x 4 x 10 inch limewood 15 x 10 x 25 cm |
Female Torso Plans and Photographs - £3.00
This torso is one of the projects for my 2013 US tour, based on the early Greek marble statue known as 'Venus of Cyrene'. It is quite a simple carving requiring few tools. The only complication is the slight twist and turn of the upper body. This should be established early on and measurement checked as the depth of the chest front to back should remain the same. Apart from that it is all measurement and symmetry. |
